INDONESIAN CITIES - Pekanbaru City is the capital and largest city in the province of Riau, Indonesia. The city is a city of trade and services, including as the city with the level of growth, migration and urbanization are high.

Pekanbaru has an international airport, the Airport Sultan Syarif Kasim II and inter-city bus terminal and inter-provincial Bandar Raya Umbrella Sekaki, and two ports on the Siak River, which Pelita Beach and River Duku.

Geography

Geographically, the city of Pekanbaru has a strategic position on the path to East Sumatera, connected with several cities such as Medan, Padang and Jambi, with administrative area, flanked by Siak on the north and east, while the west and south by the Kampar.



The city is split by the Siak River which flows from west to east and is located at an altitude ranging between 5-50 meters above sea level. The city includes tropical climate with maximum air temperature ranged between 34.1 ° C to 35.6 ° C, and the minimum temperature between 20.2 ° C to 23.0 ° C.

Prior to 1960 the city of Pekanbaru only area of 16 km² which then increased to 62.96 km² with two districts, namely the sub-district and sub-district Senapelan Fifty. Subsequently in 1965 to 6 sub-districts, and in 1987 into 8 districts with an area of 446.50 km², after the government approved the Kampar region to give up some of its territory for the purposes of expansion of the city of Pekanbaru, which is then determined by the Indonesian Government Regulation No. 19 Year 1987. Then in 2003 the number of districts in the city is divided into 12 districts.

Tourism

In the region there are Masjid Raya Pekanbaru Senapelan formerly known as Alam Mosque, built around the 18th century with the traditional architectural style and is the oldest mosque in the city of Pekanbaru.
